Pauline Wagner celebrates 103rd birthday

103Pauline Wagner, of the Berea Community just outside of Jefferson, turned 103 on December 28, 2016, and still retains her wit and humor. Her five caretakers had a birthday party for her, providing a birthday cake. Her grandfather, H. H. Hopkins is the person who started the Berea community. She taught school and was also in administration as a principal at schools in Arizona, Maryland and Virginia before retiring. Her husband, Henry, was in the Air Force, and later worked for the government on the East Coast. Henry passed away during the move and she came back to Texas alone, building a home in the Berea community. She has very little family left in the area. Being that she and Henry never had any children of their own, she has many dear friends who are like family to her.
