Obituary | James Robert “Sonny” Hollon

captureFuneral services for Mr. James Robert “Sonny” Hollon, 84, of Jefferson, Texas are 11:00 A.M. Friday December 23, 2016 in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Taylor and Bro. Jack Rasberry officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be a gathering of friends and family
5 – 7 P.M. Thursday December 22, 2016 at the funeral home.


Mr. Hollon was born February 29, 1932 in Jennings, OK. to BB and Verdia Mae Hollon, and passed away December 19, 2016 in Jefferson. Mr. Hollon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaWanda Bolick. He married his wife of sixty-five years, Jackie Reed August 3, 1951.

Mr. Hollon was a mason for over fifty years, member of the First Baptist Church since he was ten years old. He was a resident of Jefferson for eighty years. He worked for Lone Star Steel for fourteen years, He then purchased the Texaco Station then the Phillips station until retirement at 61. At that time he and his beloved wife Jackie traveled, camped, learned to square dance and country dance with some wonderful friends. Sonny’s favorite things were his family and farm.

Mr. Hollon is survived by his wife Jackie, three sons, Reed Hollon & wife Lisa, Rick Hollon, Rock Hollon & wife Jamie and a daughter, Renee Fant & husband Gary. Ten grandchildren; Reagan Morgan & husband Joey, Randi Montgomery & husband Ryan, Robin Schinen & husband Nick, Ross Hollon & wife Kelsi, Rory Hollon & wife Kyndall, Rachel Culp & husband Robert, Jessica Wochner & husband Ronan, Chelsea Hollenshead, Jordan Wright & husband Dave and Chase Hollon & wife Courtney, thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Special thanks to all the “helping hands” in the neighborhood, Marshall Home Health care and Hospice, and the members of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Dept.


Pallbearers are; Rory Hollon, Ross Hollon, Chase Hollon, Joey Morgan, Ronan Wochner, Robert Culp, Dave Wright, Nick Sahinen, Ryan Montgomery.
