Letter to the Editor | December 1, 2016

Dear Mr. Palmer,

I just read and enjoyed the articles in this week’s publication. Reading Doc Halliday’s article on the history of Thanksgiving was an interesting addition since so much of media these days barely hits the fringes of journalism with anything of historic value requiring research. Reading it reminded me that although we “think” we know how things come about we’re never too old to learn something new, i.e. the woman, Sarah Hale who suggested a national day of thanksgiving was also the author of Mary Had a Little Lamb. I mean….who knew?

Anyway, I used to write commentary for the D/FW Suburban Newspaper in Grand Prairie, a column for the State Line Speaker and more recently 2 years a column and articles for Pineywoods Live Entertainment magazine out of Longview so I value the written word and appreciate your inclusion of this type of article. I’ll be looking forward to more, hopefully. Mr. Halliday seems to take his writing seriously and maybe we can see more of that in the future.
