Obituary | Sidney Wayne Hastings

hastings-obitFuneral services for Mr. Sidney Wayne Hastings, 73, of Avinger, Texas are planned for 10:00 A.M. Thursday December 1, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas. There will be a graveside service Friday, December 2, 2016 in Gorman Cemetery, Gorman, Texas.


Mr. Hastings was born December 22, 1942 in Midland, TX. to Malcolm and Grace Clements Hastings and passed away November 27, 2016 in Avinger. Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Laverne Hodge, niece, Mary Glover and grandson, Adam Rogers.

Mr. Hastings graduated from Odessa High School in 1962 then entered the Air Force honorably served his country until he was discharged in 1968. He went to work for Mobil pipeline as a turbine pump mechanic and retired after over 30 years of employment. He moved to East Texas in 1991 where he loved to hunt, fish, and take walks. He also worked for Leslie’s Power Sports in Longview where he retired many times. He was a kind man who never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always willing to help anyone in need. He always accepted a person for who they were and enjoyed his work. He loved his children and grandchildren and was loved by them as well.

Mr. Hastings is survived by his children; David Wayne Hastings and Rhonda Hastings McClure & husband Don all of Midland, TX., sister, Faye Burris of Louden, TN., grandchildren, Joshua & Jaclyn Hastings, Jamie & Ashley Hastings, Robin & Keelon Pries, Justin McClure, Honorary grandchildren, Cody, Clay and Josh King, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers are; Richard Brown, Keith Percell, Leslie Lawrence, Abel Salazar, Ron Putman, Joey Pinard and Mike Pinard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hopes Closet at or Wounded Warrior
