Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War

A “Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War” and Veteran’s Day celebration will be held at the Ruth Lester Playhouse, Jefferson, TX. at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 10.

Mike Jenkins, an infantry Marine Company Commander, will speak regarding, “Boots on the Ground in Vietnam”. Soon after arriving in Vietnam for his second tour in early 1965, Jenkins and his company were prepared for Operation Starlite.

Operation Starlite took place in order to attack the enemy before they could attack the Marines. It was the Marine Corps’ first major ground operation of the Vietnam War. Following a special recognition ceremony, refreshments will be served.

The public is invited. This event is sponsored by the Martha McCraw Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and cosponsored by the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club.
