To The Editor:
I am a lifetime citizen of Marion County and a longtime Jefferson resident. I am also retired newspaper editor and reporter who always fought for the local taxpayers. Current members of the city council shouldn’t even have considered raising taxes while significantly reducing services provided to citizens. Our water bills have increased, most city streets are in dangerous condition, we don’t have trash pick-up, and no longer will the city provide brush removal for residents.
I live on one of the most traveled streets in Jefferson and it is in horrible condition. I was told by the new city administrator about six weeks ago that repairs would be started in about two weeks. There has been no work begun so far. I urge all Jefferson resident (taxpayers) to express their concern and disappointment with actions of our current administration.
