The Jefferson Lady Bulldogs hit the road again for the last two matches and found the going a little rough, falling in three games on Friday at New Diana, then dropping a tightly-played four-game match on Tuesday at Elysian Fields.
Hosting EF’s Lady ‘Jackets Tuesday night, Jefferson nearly clawed past its guests in the opener, ultimately falling 27-29. The Lady Bulldogs battled back and took the second game, 25-17, before falling 20-25 and 8-25 in the final two games.
Kayla Wood played all over the floor again, stacking up 10 assists and making seven digs to go along with five service aces and a kill. Jamya Smith was a leader too, making six digs and three kills to go along with a block and ace.
Keondra Williams (three aces, two kills, two digs and one block) and KyMarria Perry (three kills, two blocks, one dig and one ace) had well-rounded matches.
Jayda McCoy chipped in with four kills and a dig while Taylor Fuquay added a pair of kills, one dig and an ace. Elaina Langbartels (two blocks and a kill) and Tierra Hines (two aces and a block) contributed as well.
In Friday’s date with New Diana, the Lady Eagles won in a three-game sweep but had to work around the effort of McCoy, who led the Lady Bulldog effort.
