An Important Move

Weekly Devo-Rev. bucknerThis year my parents sold their house and bought a new house. This started the process that we all have done and we all dread. Boxing up “valuables”, deciding what to keep and what to get rid of, and walking aimlessly around trying to decide what to do next.
In reality, down payments should be being made in advance to the back doctor and chiropractor. Furniture always is heavier than it looks, and something is bound to get broken– hopefully not bodies! When my Mom and Dad called me, my back started to hurt just thinking about all that heavy stuff!
A few weeks ago my parents spoke the famous words of those just finished moving: “This is the last time.” Everyone says this with all sincerity, but often our lives take unexpected turns, and U-Haul ends up back in our driveway. We live in a mobile society, and life causes us to pack up and move our stuff from time to time. At least we have moving trucks and not covered wagons!

One of these days, when we will reach the end of our life, we will make our final move to a cemetery. This move will not include our finances, furniture, or even familiar things. This is the final move for our bodies, but our soul will make another journey. The Bible tells us that there is a literal Heaven and a literal Hell where everyone will move to someday. Heaven is prepared for those that accept Jesus, and Hell is the destination of those that reject Him. Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Heaven or Hell, which is for you?…
