The 2016 EXCEL Chevrolet-Jefferson Carnegie Library Golf Tournament was won by two father son teams. Tom Tanner and his son, T.G., from Lake of the Pines and our own Editor in Chief of the Jimpelcute, Bob Palmer and his son, Blake, made up a four-man team that scored a smoking hot 62 on the 18 hole Waskom Cypress Hills Golf Course on Saturday, May 21. The best ball scramble tournament started with a great lunch at the course followed by a raffle for prizes that included a Michelob Ultra Callaway golf bag and an Odyssey White Hot putter.

The tournament was put on by the Friends of the Jefferson Carnegie Library and all proceeds go directly to the library. Leah Cooper, President of the Friends said, “We want to thank all of our sponsors and the participants for a very successful tournament. We particularly thank EXCEL Chevrolet for their continued corporate sponsorship.”

Tournament Director George Otstott, said, “The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful, sunny day. It was a perfect day of golf and good fun. I want to thank the Friends and all of their volunteers who helped put on the tournament”
